New Jersey towns go green to reduce energy costs

Towns across New Jersey are going green to reduce the ever-increasing cost of energy. Last year, Wayne signed off on a large solar panels project, and more recently Westwood announced plans to cut energy costs by installing solar panels and wind and water turbines, looking to reduce its $540,000-a-year utilities bill. Solar panels are also being planned for municipal buildings in Fort Lee, Glen Rock, Tenafly and Ringwood. To read the Record article on towns going green, click here.

Westwood also purchased a hybrid police car and has plans to put a vegetable-oil powered DPW truck on the road next year. For a related article, click here.
