The Friends officers and committee thanked Susan Steele for her 3-year service as Treasurer and Andrea Mateo for her 2-year service as Secretary.

The elections were followed by a meeting which included the announcement of the Annual Friends Pasta Night! dinner to be held on Wednesday, October 28 at the Advent Lutheran Church (777 Wyckoff Avenue).

Friends also discussed their recent participation as the sponsor for the "No Idling Campaign" at Washington School. A $100 Chamber of Commerce gift certificate was presented to Chiara Fiori. A sign with her winning slogan, "Turn the key to be idle-free" will be posted on the fence where the parents' pick-up line up is before the new school year begins.

Also discussed was an important upcoming Township Committee meeting scheduled for August 4. On this date, Cablevision will present their application to renew its franchise to provide cable services to Wyckoff. Township Committeeman Brian Scanlan is investigating grants to purchase the required equipment for broadcasting Township meetings on our public access channel and the internet. All residents interested are encouraged to attend this meeting to request the Township Committee to acquire any grants available for this purpose. (benefits all who cannot attend - especially seniors.)

Other open discussions included Open Space/development issues, specifically the plans for Russell Farm and the CHCC multi-unit proposal, Sustainable NJ, a green incentive program and Preservation NJ for historic preservation. The Friends decided to continue their popular Electronic Recycling Day in the spring of 2010.

The next Friends General Meeting will be held at the Larkin House in September.
